An Object both confined and liberated by its exclusive use of the bend motif. Inspired by Lino Bo Bardi’s “Auditorio MASP” chair, 28 Bends looks to simplicity through a continuous linear diagram. Here, the bend is a constraint and an allowance. Steel resists breakage and privileges bending; it is resilient, despite its continuous transformation. The use of brass pins celebrates the otherwise muted color palette and reveals the connection between wood and steel. Wood occupies the gap between frame and mass. The nominal width of the 1/2” unit drives the design language of the chair, both delineating space and material thickness. Tread the line between sculpture and seat, it both reveals and masks its own intricacies. In spirit of Lina Bo Bardi, 28 Bends is testament to her belief that every design out to take on a form that communicates its own logic.
